It feels good to be off of school. It gives children time to relax, and celebrate their holidays with family. But, hey, who are we kidding, we just want the presents!
We also like vacations, right? Well that's why I'm going to Hilton Head. It'll be a chilly 50-60 degrees, but since some of the quickest transportation can be by bicycle, it'll be perfect. Also, It's perfect running weather! Being the strange kid that I am, I looked up reviews for the restaurants, activities, spa's and beaches. Not that we'll be able to go to the beaches other than to walk, it still intrigued me.
When I was little, my Mom used to sing the "Leaving on a Jet Plane" song to me all the time, and when I was YouTube stalking some bands, I found a cover of it by Slightly Stoopid. I got really excited of course, because unexpected childhood memories that get randomly triggered on boring days tend to do that. The cover is so different from the original, but it's sooo good.
Short and sweet.
Relaaaaxxxx dude.

And We'll Watch Christmas TV
Happy Holiday Break!!!! Well, for most of you anyways (sorry Gabi).
I spent my first day off relaxing, for the most part. We decided to go running at the Clear Creek Trail, where I slid a bit and had a really runny nose (haha get it, running?! Like what my legs were doing?! It was a complete body function ahaha.) I partially failed, but at least I feel accomplished.
At the dinner table, my four year old sister was climbing all over my dad, much like a monkey would. Then my stepmother says, "At gymnastics, they told me that she was just like a little puppy." And just to make sure she was still the center of attention, the four year old says "I'm a freak of nature!" Some of the things little children say are quite amusing. Also, the way they proccess information.... I could go on, but I'll spare you.
Ahhhemmmm, may I have your full, undevided, attention:
Movies to watch if you have Netflix (you can watch these on the clever and magnificent Watch Instantly function):
Conversations With Other Women
This one's just directed in a really cool way.You can tell it wasn't very expensive to make, but the creativity of the plot makes it captivating all the way through.
Brick
Ok, this is probably the coolest movie I've seen in a while, apart from Inception (yeah I know, a dream in a dream in a dream in a dream in a dream). It's cool because of the following:
And now I feel like an annoying, opinionated movie reviewer you see in the Herald Times. (I would like to compare myself to The New York Times, but my vocabulary is definitely not up to par, neither is my persuasion.)
If you still aren't itching to watch it, well too bad for you.
Need ways to entertain yourself this holiday break? Why not watch some parkour on YouTube? I do, and it passes the time rather quickly. Plus, it just makes you daydream about being super. Like The Incredibles.
If they taught parkour in gym class, A LOT more kids would stay more active. Downside: An increased death rate amongst teenagers. (Not like there isn't enough of adolecents being stupid and dying. Hey there drunk driving, killed anybody under the age of 21 today?!)
One of my favorite holiday songs:
Baby It's Cold Outside.
So many people have done really different renditions. The Lady Antebellum one is aweful, Norah Jones and Willie Nelson's is fresh, and cool, but my favorite is the Dean Martin one. I wish we had more Dean's and Frank's still around. Michael is good, but sometimes I just need old-timey sounding music again. "History repeats itself" doesn't really apply to all music. Now a days, contemporary artists make it sound worse, SO MUCH WORSE. I'm so sick of all this autotune nonsense. Sure, it makes good club music or whatever, but the "Most popular radio station in Bloomington, B97!" is getting on my nerves. I was desperate for a new outlet to satisfy my car tunes addiction.
Guess what? I found it:
IU's student-run radio station, WIUX (99.1). Since it's, well, run by the students of IU, theres a constant flow of all the different music tastes. I was sold as soon as I heard The Decemberists, The Black Keys, quite a bit of The XX, Vampire Weekend, and OLD TIMEY HOLIDAY MUSIC!!! (It was good to know it still exists outside the iTunes and CD industries.)
I was even more sold one day when I was chilling at my Dad's office (he was attending a faculty holiday party in another part of the building). I decided to turn on the radio and read. Of course, B97 was programmed, (and NPR,) but I proceeded to switch it to the lovely 99.1. The first glorious words I heard come out of the DJs' mouth's were "We thank you for joining us during the Reggae Hour, we're glad to be bringng you a nonstop flow of reggae music. The roads are quite bad aren't they *insert common male name here*";and I rejoyced. (The next day we had a two-hour delay, no doubt because of my lucky encounter with the new greatest FM radiostation local to B-town.) (Oh, and because Ellie wore her PJ's inside out, thanks again.)
This is so text heavy, I doubt anyone really cares what I think. That is, if anyone reads this. (Well obviously someone does. Yes, I'm talking to YOU.) Whatever, I still think Tavi, Spencer, and Jane, are pretty much the niftiest teenagers out there. If only I had enough time, and motivation to post about my creative outfits (Tavi) (yeaaaahhh like they even exist), my cool mom/creative outfits/globetrotting adventures/thrift store finds (Jane) (I have a cool mom, but not really anything significant in the other categories), or my wicked photography skills taken from my cool cameras (Spencer) (yeah I wish.) Did I mention that Spencer's dad is in Wilco? I mean COME ON!!!
Ok, deep breath, it's almost over.
Happy Holidays! (Again) Just in case I am lazy and don't post until after I open presents and leave cookies and milk for dear ol' St. Nick, I hope you have an astounding two weeks off.

P.S. This song explains the title, and is yet another reason why 99.1 is the best.

- Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (Need I say more, ladies?)
- It has a magnificent storyline.
- The language is so entangled with slang words at such a fast pace, you actually have to listen to understand what's happening.
- It's not predictable.
- It moves frome each scene to the next with fluidity.
- The filmography is wicked.
- It was played at Sundance.
- It's just really, really good.

Oh Little Sister
Greetings!
Happy first (3) days of Hanukkah! Yaaay. Even though I don't celebrate it, Gillian told me I could be an honorary Jew last trimester. Gillian also showed me the best song in the entire universe. The people in my Algebra II class know it, (or at least they heard me lamely sing it today). Yes, you're correct, it's the Friend Crush Song! It's the song to my life, and if I could, I'd sing it to everyone who reads this blog.
Today I found a note to me in a Word document on the computer:
I read it and thought to myself, Well isn't this just dandy. And I followed by feeling like a really bad sister. And then I got over it. Everyone who has younger siblings within an 8 year difference will agree: YOU CAN'T HELP BUT BE ANNOYED BY YOUNGER SIBLINGS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. They were born to harass you, and then when they get older, they become your best friend. Horay.
Oh, finals went well. I have a 4.2something GPA, which isn't too shabby.
Music music... hmmm still slacking on that.
Well now that I think about it, I've been listening to Sublime and Slightly Stoopid quite a bit. I like to play their songs really loud in my house when I'm alone. And then I proceed to dance. If I'm feeling extra extroverted, you might find me in class listening to my iPod and ridiculously swaying back and fourth. Now you know why. Also, this song is especially good for dancing. I suggest that YOU play it really loud at home and bust out some sick moves. I most likely am too.
In fact, I just did! Before you judge, I just want to say that everyone has their vices. Mine is being a sucker for good dancing songs and not caring what I look like when I move my body to the beat. Kind of like at Lotus. That was super fun. And, it burns calories! An added bonus, kiddo.
Rock climbing.... I got fourth in our last competition. Hazel climbed a 5'12 yesterday, and I'm jelous/super happy for her. We lead climbed for real (for the first time) yesterday too. Falling was super fun. SUPER FUN I TELL YOU!!!!
Tonight I'm departing for a Confirmation retreat. It's going to be in the woods, and FREEZING. I might get hypothermia, but am packing many layers to prevent it as well. Weekend with God, I guess you could call it.
Sorry this post was so boring. I'm going to go eat Panera mac n cheese now. Go eat some too.

Dear Rebecca,
I love you and that’s about it. Even though I don’t like it so much when you yell at me or kick me, I still love you, and you probably know that. Please refrain from breaking any part of my body ‘cause I love you. I think I’m going to play Pokémon now.
Love, Isabel J
