Website To Help With Previous Playlist

I was going to post this link with the playlist, but then I forgot in the awesome daze I was in.

DVD Video Soft saved my life, and my mom's bank account. I'm pretty sure it's probably illegal, but it's killer. All you do is plug the link of whichever YouTube video you want to download, and the program will download it straight into you iTunes as an Mp3, a video or.... I don't remember what else. Sadly, it doesn't work on Mac's (or I just haven't found it yet) so I only use it at home on our PC. Download it, it doesn't have an viruses and doesn't take up much space either. You're parents will thank you.

WARNING: Make sure you watch the entire YouTube video you want to download because sometimes the quality is really sucky and every time it comes on your playlist you'll want to break something. Definitely do this before you go on a run. You might just end up kicking some innocent dogs.

Wynton: Seville pictures will be up ASAP. They're not letting me load them on here currently.... I already have the one's I want to put on picked out, so they'll be the next thing posted!

Ellie: If you're still following this, message me on facebook asap I'm in dire need of a Skype date, also, I want to see if you want another leather bag: outdoor market is tomorrow.

Style.com was thinking the same stuff as me. Creepy! Digging the Bumble&Bumble surf spray, except I just swim in the ocean if I want that effect.

I should probably leave you with a cool YouTube video.... This post has been way to text-y.

Just kidding. Blogger is being annoying and won't let me upload anything...... Just entertain yourself with previous YouTube videos I've posted while you download all of the songs on my playlist on your DVD Video Soft (it takes a while)

Have at it

Giant Playlist of Glory

This is going to be a HUGE playlist and I might just give up in the middle of it because it's so long.
Eh, we'll see.

So basically I've re-made this playlist four times because every time i plug it into my computer it's erased for some inexplicable reason. Each time it's gotten bigger. There's no way I'm remaking it. NO WAY.

Here we go (in alphabetical order by artist):

Phew. That took a good hour and a half. If the links are bad, I apologize.
Go at it.

Jamon Serrano

Hola.

Spain is ah-mazing as always, but it's going by so quickly! (Don't worry, we still have three and a half weeks left.) So far, I've gotten two bags and two sweatshirts. Why I got sweatshirts, I have no clue, but the Nike outlet was too enticing. They were 50% off the already marked down price, and I needed sweatshirts for the fall. I guess the upside to being super short (5 feet 1/4 of an inch tall to be exact) is that you can fit into kid's clothing.

Pictures of the bags will be posted further down. Coincidentally, they both have fringe.
Oh, and Gabi wanted to model one of my sweatshirts for me so I took some pretty dope pictures of that.

I promised a packing list, so here it is:
(Boys, sorry, but I don't know how to pack for you.)

  • DRESSES, DRESSES, AND MORE DRESSES. They're perfect because they're easy, and breezy. They always look nice, and sometimes don't need to be ironed. I'd suggest something like this:
For any occasion, for a day out or a casual dinner.

Another casual day dress

This could be for the town, or as a cover-up for the beach.
Another city/beach dress.

This would be good for a nicer dinner out.

  • Comfortable shoes. Last year, I was forced by my many blisters to buy some good walking shoes. You literally walk MILES every day, and without appropriate shoes, you'll die. I'm serious. Right now I'm living in my Chaco's.

I've hiked, walked, biked and swam in these.
Last year I debated getting these Camper ballerina flats, but I didn't. Regardless,  they're cute and practical.
Simple
  • Swimsuit. It's pretty self explanatory. If you're going to the beach, it'd be smart to bring one. I prefer two pieces.
If you like nice patterns

I'm digging the vintage glamor look. High waist to the max.

  •  Bags. Think easy, goes with everything, and won't bug the crap out of you. I prefer cross body, and large totes for the beach.
This bag is ideal. It's versatile, stylish, never gets old, and is simply discreet.

Make sure your beach tote is recognizable.
Something like this is large enough for traveling in the airport and small enough to carry around as a handbag.

Here are my two new bags as promised.

The black one is from this store called Blanco. I got it for 4.99 euros! The tan one is from the outdoor markets in Seville. It's 100% leather, smells amazing and will only get better with age. It was 30 euro, but totally worth it. If I had bought it through a store, like say j.Crew, it could have easily cost $200.

Gabi's modeling:
Sweatshirt: Nike Outlet
Style: Little kid retro
Cost: 10 euro

Note: Woody

As a farewell to this post:

Plaza de Espana, where we were stranded and lost for a whole 45 minutes. It was exhausting.

You Ain't Gangsta

So, school's out losers. Time for some summer fun. Or some summer despair, whichever you choose.

This afternoon I leave for ESPANA!!!! (SPAINNNNAN) I flew from Indianapolis to Chicago yesterday, and met Gabi and her family. We proceeded to go eat sushi, which is pretty much a ritual for us whenever we get together. I'm slowly but surely getting used to fish, and even enjoying it.

Green tea is the ish.

My attempt at being artsy.

The reason I live: SUSHI

Don't get me wrong, I definitely wish I loved fish. But, for some reason, the texture and the fishy flavor are a turn-off. Kind of like a really nice guy, but that smells and is rather unattractive. Well, that's why I take fish oil capsules.

So, to my wondrous surprise, as I am contemplating how to upload all of the pictures from my camera onto my MacBook, I found a perfect little slot for my memory card. Yaaaaaayyyyyyy!!! Over 1000 pictures uploaded in less than two minutes. My life is complete.

I don't remember if I did or didn't, but I think I may have promised to post a Spain Packing Essentials List.....
I will definitely do that once I can unpack my suitcase, which shall be in (hopefully) less than a day.

And I'll also post my favorite looks from my favorite lines.

I'll leave you with a good song and a creepy picture.

Thank you Simon for telling me about this dude. I got the CD from the library, and the whole thing is a super solid reggae album.

What happens when you steal my MacBook.

See you in Spain,

What A Slump

Ugh, so finals are tomorrow, and as of right now I'm really unmotivated because of the two days left. Don't worry, I still studied, but it's taken some will power and more than enough concentration.

Shout-out to all of my friends in Europe right now. I'm super jealous, but I'll soon be joining you.

SPAIN COUNTDOWN: 7 DAYS!!!!
I'm beyond stoked, and I'll post an essential Europe packing list pronto.
So, I know I said the next post would be all about fashion, and it's obvious that it's not happening tonight. Too much studying (ha).

For all you procrastinators, I recently discovered an app that's called iProcrastinate. It's marvelous and has been keeping me motivated the past two days.

Also, MY MACBOOK CAME BACK! The Apple store fixed my problem (apparently the wires connected to the hard drive were disconnected during it's shipping, and it was a miracle that it even lasted as long as it did) and the love of my life is back in my arms. (Ladies, the only man you can trust, and trust truly forever, will have the name Mac, and possibly be an Apple.)

Just kidding, that's creepy.

Anywho, I'm currently obsessing over Jimi Hendrix. He's the -ish. I NEED a Jimi t-shirt ASAP. I'll probably to some internet shopping soon to hunt one down.
Preferably something as trippy as this. (BTW best album everrrrr)

I'd have to say that Bold As Love is definitely in my top 5 Jimi songs. Come on,
"Anger, he smiles,
towering in shiny metallic purple armour
Queen Jealousy, envy waits behind him
Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground"
Lyrics of epic proportions. If you haven't heard it, you're missing out major.

Seriously, it'll rock your world big time.

Another obsession of the moment:
Joni Mitchell. She's so cute. Let's revel in her musical genius together, and sigh in unison at the simplicity and angel-ness of her voice, shall we?

Love Love Love Love Love

I'm already starting to sense the beginnings of my summer playlist. Most of it is probably going to be older stuff. Get ready for some intense musical time traveling while I get prepared for some intense real traveling (SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN)

Catch you on the flip side (hopefully tomorrow),

Just Wrap It Up

So I could be at the gorge right now, but I'm not. Soon though. Actually, the weekend before finals.... Great studying plan, right? Ah well. It'll be really good weather, and it gives me more time to get better.

I remember listening to this as a kid, but I never knew who it was by. Thanks to Sara Nemes, for reminding me of my childhood. I'm stoked because I now understand all of the song, (aka references). This is a sign that I can no longer be classified as a "little kid". Score.

Anywho, I've decided to dedicate this post to rap. Hence, "wrap it up".

Whoa whoa whoa. Can you say "super sick beat". Loving Snoop's verse. "I'm Bob Marley reincarnated, so faded."

Have you ever heard of anything Danger Mouse has worked on that isn't epic? Come on, from Gnarles Barkley, to The Shins (yes, he worked with THE SHINS) it's hard to believe it gets any better.

Oh my goodness, many thanks to Gillian Applegate for showing me this. Such a good rap. Just listen to the verses this dude is spitting. "Life's not a bitch! Life is a beautiful woman. You only call her a bitch because she won't let you get that ......" yes.

Nasty Nas, nasty nasty Nas. He and Damian are gonna be at Lolla this summer! Too bad I can't go. (Bonnaroo's lineup is better.)

They played this at the gym yesterday and I got super excited becuase I can actually keep up with it when I make my wimp attempts of rapping. Nice Inception reference. Solid.

SUCH A GOOD BASSLINE IM OBSESSED. The lyrics, however, are stupid. No one cares that your lady friend steals your hat. It's clear that you have many more to wear. Chill man. (Note: Get in your ride, turn the bass wayyyyyy up, and play this song. I promise the experience is mindblowingg)

Can I just say that I loveee when people take a beat with that old-school vibe, and put verses on top of it. I see it as a nod to the artists of the past, who were so so so so flyy.

Cheeaaa,
So those are the highlights of the rap thats been on my playlists for the past few months. I know its not super good, I'm sure many of you have stuff thats much better. Actually, I know for a fact that you do. Sadly, whenever I try to play most of this in my moms car, she complains that "this music is giving me a headache. Pick something else!". And then when I do change it, she screams at me to pay attention to the road and proceeds to choose something that's really old. Ahh, what can you do?

My parting video: I'm guessing this is how I dance at Lotus, (MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!!!) and probably everywhere else... Whatever. I make people uncomfortable, regardless.

Happy thoughts,

-R

P.S. Next post I promise will be fashion related. Theres been a serious lack in that subject, and right now the title of this blog should be named "Music with a sprinkle of Spain and Climbing."

Little Balls of Heaven

Today was a beautiful day.

Until my macbook pro went screwy. And then a giant gray cloud came over me and I cried for two whole hours.

Nahh that didn't happen, although I am slightly off put by it.

I made this post for a reason:

HOW TO MAKE OREO BALLS
aka little balls of heaven
Utensils:
Candy Coating (white kind)

Cream cheese. I have a low-fat preference.

Oreos, again, low-fat.

Larg(er) bowl.

A large ziplock bag, as big, or bigger than a standard sheet of paper. & a skewer of some sort. I use wooden.

Double boiler. I use a small pot and a small glass bowl. Works like a charm.

Waxy paper yo.
Your (hopefully working) laptop, Netflix, nice speakers, and a chill glass of milk. Mmmm

Directions:

Place whole container of oreos in the ziplock baggie.

Now, STOMP ON THEM LIKE THEY'RE THE FACE OF YOUR ENEMY. Just kidding, be nice to everyone. Stomp until they're finely crushed up.

Put the crushed up oreos in your large bowl and dump in the cream cheese too.

Sorry, that's where the pictures end... And when my computer gave up on me.

  • Mix them together with your hands, don't be afraid to get dirty. (Remember you get to lick them off. )
  • Once mixed, roll a heaping tablespoons size in the palms of your hand making a ball. Put the balls on a plate which you'll put in the fridge after you're all done.
  • Once all of the balls are in the fridge, get out your double boiler and the candy coating. I suggest melting two of the candy coating squares at a time. If you do more, it'll overcook.
  • Once the coating is consistently melted, take one ball at a time and drop them into the coating. Using the skewer, move the ball around until its coated completely, then stab it and place it on the wax paper to solidify. Do this until all of the oreo balls have been coated.
  • Once dry, you can put them in the fridge if you're afraid of them turning into mush, or if you like eating more solid deserts.

There you have it! The extremely easy, but absolutley delicious dessert. You'll have everyone drooling, and begging you to make them. Be frugal with your balls, don't be so quick to give them away. Ahahaha just kidding.... Maybe.

The beat is sooo good. Everything else...... Not good.

Have fun rolling and coating your balls,

-R

The Desperate Cries of Attention

Hey.

It has been a looooooooooooooong time since we last had a chat.
So guess what? SLIGHTLY STOOPID IS COMING TO CHICAGO AUGUST 27 (A SATURDAY) and my mother will not drive me there. So, for all you stoopidheads that have nice licenses, and wish to take me, today is your lucky day.

Anywho, I've got some new music for ya'll to jam to.

Whoa, remember M.I.A.? Who said Paper Planes was her best song....

Get your ska on with The Slackers.

Oh my god so much good stuff going on in this song. The switching from reggae feel to rockish vibess is so smooth. Like mango sorbet. Mmmmm wanna get me some of that.

Got to see them in concert... In town. B-Town that is. And guess what? They didn't play this song. Losers. Just kidding, they're super fly.

Ok, I think that's good.

Recently, I've been YouTube stalking this guy. His name is Andy Milonakis. He's this fudging awesome  thirty something year old with a congenital growth disorder. Before you reprimand me for making fun of someone who is, "disabled," he's not. Andy is really, really, really, funny. The fact that he sounds, and still looks like a teenager just adds to his hilarity. He can rap like a rhino, and get high like a plane. Paper Planes, in fact.

TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS PLANES

Only a pimp. hahahahahhhahhaaaa

You must listen to ALL of the lyrics he's spitting. So ridiculous. Gets seriously stuck in your head if you watch it enough.... Like me.....

FASHION
After many a fifth periods on Style.com I have found quite a few collections I'm mad about.
  • Proenza Schouler: Tribal print must-haves
  • Rodarte: Muse-The American Dream
  • T by Alexander Wang: Simplicity at it's finest
  • Miu Miu: Cutesy-Oddly Shaped Fun + their signature prints
  • So many more. Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to put the pictures up here... Couldn't find the URL for the slideshow pictures.

So, yep. That's pretty much the gist of it. I PROMISE to blog more often: 150 euro's relies on it. So, check to see if I have new posts on a daily basis. Get me more pageviews! I promise, the result will be spectacular (aka: a supa fly new design for your more-than-worthy eyes.)

Sometimes I Drink Water Just For Something To Do

Well it's definitely been a while hasn't it?

Sorry.
Not really.

Because I've done some pretty kick-ass things recently. Like going to the Gorge with the fabulous B-Team. Of course we climbed, and drank Ale 8, and went to Miguel's.

I'm not quite sure where the Georg is, but we went to the Gorge instead.

So I'm still listenting to good stuff. Nothing horrendous.

Keeping it in the family.

They're both really good. I'd put Welcome to Jamrock, but the video is the clean version, so there's no point. Ehh.

Truthfully, I didn't think they'd be very good live, but this is super sick. They actually covered that song. The original is ridiculously odd.
These guy's sound as if they were at a bar, at 2AM, and the only people left were asleep. But it's still fun to listen to. Even if it's just for personal amusment.

But if you want real amusement, here's a few things that never fail to put a smile on my face.
Thanks, Emily.

If you haven't seen "Friday", you live under a rock, and should look it up on YouTube, and then rewatch this.

And then watch this.

I'm not really sure why this guy gets so many views... His videos shouldn't be really funny, but I guess he sort of is.
I'm such a ten year old boy.

I got a super cool iPhone app. Oh yeah, I GOT AN iPHONE!!!! It's become a permenant extention to my arm.

Anyway, the app is a camera app that makes the pictures look like you used a lomo, or some vintage film camera. The good part of this was that I was pining over several lomo/holga cameras, but instead of paying $60 for each, I can spend $2.00 and get them on my phone. Score.

Super cool right?
I think thats pretty good for now.

I'll leave you with my new favorite song. It's really deep, and has a great message.

Just kidding.

Progress Reports

Gooooood morning.

I really don't want to take the chemistry exam I have today. So, I'll pretend I'm somewhere else by listening to the White Stripes. This song is stuck in my head.

Good luck to whatever feats you must overcome today.

Lord Have This Grilled Cheese

Well, it's definitely been a while.

Basically, we've had tons of snow days (seven to be exact) and I've been too lazy to blog. I have, however, thought of many good ideas. For example, I think I'm finally going to upload all of my pictures from this summer to my computer. When this might happen, though, is still unknown. Just be aware that I do, many of them will brighten up this screen, or blog, or whatever.

I watched The Other Guys last night, and it reminded me of this:

It's very true. Watch any action guy movie, and NONE of them look at the explosion. Like in The Matrix. I wish I had the crazy sick moves they do there. This is about as close as I can get.

I'm tired of all of this snow. I miss summer so much. Speaking of summer, I just found the Spain pictures from last summer on my computer! I guess I did end up uploading them. (Haha up uploading, UP UPloading. UP UP UP UPPUPUPUPUPUPUP.)Here are some of the best!
Look how huge the columns are! This cathedral was amazing.
The view of the roof of the cathedral from the bell tower.
View of the street from bell tower.
The orange tree garden.
Flesh-eating fish that somehow don't eat the ducks.
There were probably dozens of these beautiful water ways in this castle.
I probably saw hundreds of fountains.
Collosseum that's now used for concerts.
Gardens. Were. Everywhere.
Bullfight...
When it got really bloody and gross, I looked at this little kid's eyelashes. Is that creepy?
Ruins in which gladiators were dumped with lions, bears and beasts, oh my, until one killed the other. Or two gladiators were put in there till one of them died. People watched from seats above.
The beach was really nice.
Reliving my childhood.
For some reason, on the flight back, I found this really funny. It was on the plane wing.

Spain was amazing. I had loads of fun. I get to go back and intern this summer! With my wonderful, beautiful, and talented cousin.

Today at the gym, when I walked in they were playing "Trenchtown Rock," but the Sublime cover. And then, while I was miserably failing at sending a 5'10 lead route, the real version of "Trenchtown Rock" started playing. It was rather coincidental. Overall, today was a very, very successful music day at Hoosier Heights. Plus, I bought a really cool harness.

My dream: For someone to sing and play Mellow Mood for me. So, if you play guitar, have a good voice, and like G.Love and Slightly, get on it. You'll win me over instantly. Like instant coffee. Gross, bad comparison.

Because of all these snow days we've had, I've been glued to Netflix. I started watching Psych, Parks and Recreation, and something else I don't remember. I also saw "The Kids Are Alright". I thought it was really fresh and well done. Again, Netflix is one of the best inventions ever.

I got i-D and W magazines about a week ago. They're huge and filled with glossy, wonderful pictures and nice articles. Oh, and the new j.Crew catalogue came! I love j.Crew so much. SO MUCH.

I also love dark chocolate, 75-85% cocoa to be exact, but that's another blog topic.

Happy Eatings,
-R
